This work was originally written for a TV documentary for the Green Shoe Company, makers of children’s shoes. The documentary was commissioned by the Slosberg family, owners of the shoe company at the time (1959), who were great patrons of new music and contemporary art. In contrast to the composer’s other instrumental compositions, this work, like much of his vocal music, is lively, dance-like and conveys a distinctly jolly mood.
